Alicia "Sunshine" Gbaho has been studying and performing dance since her young years at the Katherine Dunham Center in East St. Louis, IL. She later continued her professional study at Illinois State University while becoming a company member of Illinois State Dance Theater and Competitive Dance Troupe, NOIR. This allowed her to work with many notable choreographers in Dance Theater and Commercialism. It was there that the bulk of her technical dance training was grounded in an array of dance techniques. Sunshine recognized Gods’ purpose for her life when she was a little girl: touching lives through the arts. Performing all over at many local and national venues has allowed her to move forward with that purpose. Notable performances include but are not limited to: Lupe Fiasco (Grammy Nominated Hip Hop Artist), Jon B, Chamillionare, Afriky Lolo (Assistant Artistic Director 05-09), The Slaughter Project, Banyan Dance Theater, JPEK Creative Works, Nu-World Contemporary Danse Theater, The Legendary Showtime at the Apollo, R&B Sensation Jznalle and SOSy. Sunshine has also been seen in such productions as When Colored Girls Considered Suicide, The Mask, The Goddess Zaouli; Sundiata: The King of Mali by Afriky Lolo. She has also played in Real Life and A Deeper Shade of Blues by Joel P.E. King. This experience led to self productions: I am Beyond Your Measure Ability (2009), Beyond Borders A Voyage to Love (2014), Gravity (2015), Remedy (2016). She teaches at area studios and clubs such as COCA & Springboard. Sunshine is also the founder of Beyond Measure, LLC. Dance Theater. Beyond Measure educates, entertains and inspires audiences of all ages and backgrounds through the history, culture and music of the African/African American community through the use of popularized vernacular dances in America while emphasizing the importance of health (mind & body).

Doors will open a half hour before class begins. If paying at the door, please pay with cash or check (made payable to Ashleyliane Dance Company) No refunds will be given.

Note: If you have not signed a liability release form in over 2 years, you will need to sign a new form upon arrival to your first class. All dancers under 18 will need a parent/guardian to sign one for them. If you would like a release form sent in advance.
